A Tavern Song: At The Briny Spittoon
Ale for the lads, whiskey for me
None for the bo’s’n, he’s already had three!
Serve it with ice, let it be chilled
A seaman’s cold heart is unsteady unfilled!
Pass me a fork, send me a spoon
Here the meat’s salty, at the Briny Spittoon!
Orders are up, food will be quick
The biscuits are soft, and the gravy runs thick!
First round is done, second is up
Spit shine the glasses, deliver me a cup!
Bring forth the food, send for
Batten down the hatches, there's a storm on the scope
(Belay that order! And give us another!)
Heave to says the cap'n, safe make the topsail rope
(Belay that order! Give it to some other!)
To Hell and high water, Splice the mainbrace once more
(Three sheets to the wind! Let the rum freely flow!)
We'll pillage and plunder, 'til we're dead on the floor
(Three sheets to the wind, to the depths we will go!)
The storm's drawing nearer, with clattering thunder
(To Hell she'll take us, to join the Devil's crew)
Raise the Jolly Roger, and brace to go under
(To Hell she'll take us, to give each jack his due)
